Sony Delays The Last Of Us 2 Indefinitely

Sony has announced it is delaying the launch of The Last of Us 2 indefinitely, saying in a tweet that the global crisis caused by the coronavirus is “preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.”

Developer Naughty Dog issued its own statement on Twitter as well. In it, the studio said that while it’s in the final stretches of development, there are logistical issues that will prevent it from ensuring the best experience, including a simultaneous global launch.

“We were bummed about this decision but ultimately understood it’s what’s best and fair to all of our players,” the statement reads. “We’re hoping that this won’t be a long delay and we’ll update you as soon as we have new information to share.”

This follows another release date delay that had pushed the game’s release until May 2020, not long after it had been announced for February. (Prior to that, it was due out last year.) This latest delay has no release date attached, but unlike others, it’s not due to extra development time. Sony has previously said that the coronavirus pandemic shouldn’t impact the release of the PlayStation 5, which is also due this year. Presently, The Last of Us 2 is only slated for release on PS4.

The announcement from Sony also noted that Marvel’s Iron Man VR is similarly delayed until further notice.

The downside is that there is no option for creating a flowchart, but you can always do it on specialized sites, like Zen Flowchart.

Excellent home screen interface does not require any data and does not need to enter its own settings. The cost entry is not by category, but you write down what the amount was spent. What worked out well in this app is setting a budget for certain items and keeping track of whether you stick to it. For example, you enter that you will spend $ 500 in restaurants this month and choose whether this is fixed or may vary. The app alerts you if you exceed your budget. Overall, it’s not bad, it’s transparent, but for that basic, cost tracking.

Budget – IOS

This application does not ask you to create your own profile. Just install it and start using it. You will enter your income and expenses and on that basis, the application will continue to calculate everything that you require. It can also notify you when you have to make regular payments and the like.

Conclusion

A good way to raise awareness of how you manage your finances is to keep track of what your money is spent on a daily basis and record the inflows. However, if this requires too much work from you, you will probably quit quickly.

That is why the mobile phone is very useful because it is always with you and today there are many applications that can be used for this purpose and are very easy to use.

Last Of Us Part 2 crunch and staff burnout caused delay says former staff

Naughty Dog’s Last Of Us Part 2 may end up being a great game, but it will come at a considerable cost to its developers.

One subject that continues to plague the games industry, particularly in the triple-A space, is crunch – where developers must work extra-long hours, often unpaid, in order to finish a product in time for release, even if it’s at the cost of their health.

Over the last several years, this practice has become more and more public, with companies like Rockstar being called out for it its use during Red Dead Redemption 2’s development (one of our readers even elected to boycott it as a result).

This year, CD Projekt Red admitted that it would have to enforce crunch for Cyberpunk 2077, which had to be delayed from April to September. And following a new report from Kotaku (which can be read in full here), we now know that Naughty Dog has been subjecting its staff to it for The Last Of Us Part 2.

The report describes Naughty Dog as a studio of two halves; one that is simultaneously one of the best companies to work for and one of the worst. Due to the success of such critically acclaimed titles as Uncharted 4 and the first Last Of Us, Naughty Dog comes across as being obsessed with perfection, eager to make its games the best they can be no matter what.

‘Thisgame is really good, but at a huge cost to the people,’ said one anonymousdeveloper.

‘This can’t be something that’s continuing over and over for each game, because it is unsustainable,’ said another, ‘At a certain point you realise, ‘I can’t keep doing this. I’m getting older. I can’t stay and work all night.’’

A number of former developers have also criticised Naughty Dog’s work ethic. ‘They do try to take care of you, providing food, encouragement to go take breaks’ one admitted, ‘But for the most part, the implication is: ‘Get the job done at all costs.’’

Following Uncharted 4’s release, 14 of the 20 credited non-lead developers left the studio (that’s 70%), most likely due to the stress and pressure brought on from development. This in turn has affected Last Of Us Part 2’s development, and seems to have only created a vicious cycle.

Former Last Of Us Part 2 animator Jonathan Cooper shared his own experiences in a pretty damning set of tweets, saying that while he was fortunate enough to never experience crunch, he knew it was happening elsewhere.

‘Forthe demo shown last September, the gameplay animators crunched more than I’veever seen and required weeks of recovery afterwards. One good friend of minewas hospitalised at that time due to overwork. He still had over half a year togo. There have been others since.

‘Thereason I left is because I only want to work with the best. That is no longerNaughty Dog. Their reputation for crunch within LA is so bad it was nearimpossible to hire seasoned contract game animators to close out the project.As such we loaded up on film animators.’

He also added that Naughty Dog had threatened to withhold his final payment until he signed paperwork that stated that he would not share the company’s production practices, until he told them that that was most likely illegal.

On top of that, he wrote that Naughty Dog’s success was partly because of Sony and its willingness to fund delays: ‘A more senior team would have shipped TLOU2 a year ago.’

Despite Naughty Dog’s previous openness about crunch, Kotaku approached both Naughty Dog and Sony to interview studio management but a representative turned down the request and declined to comment on the report.

Someof its developers have admitted that they hope Last Of Us Part 2 will fail,disproving Naughty Dog’s belief that crunch is necessary to make its titles theGame Of The Year quality that it has come to expect.

However, this is very unlikely to happen given the mainstream hype surrounding the title. And unless something else drastic happens, or there’s a significant change, there’s a very real possibility that this cycle will just begin all over again with their next game.

The Last Of Us HBO Series In Development From Chernobyl Creator

If a sequel just wasn’t enough, albeit a tad bit delayed, The Last of Us fans will get an ample serving of their Cordyceps-infected world with an HBO original series. The series comes from the acclaimed writer and creator of Chernobyl, co-written alongside Neil Druckmann. It will bring the post-apocalyptic 2013 game to dreary life on the small screen.

The news comes from an exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter, which quotes Craig Mazin – a self-professed fan.

“Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus. Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honored to do it in partnership with Neil.”

Mazin’s dark and spellbinding work on Chernobyl is proof alone that he is more than capable of bringing The Last of Us to life. Already dark and menacing in its own right, add only the soft yet very close sounds of those terrifying Clickers and you have a recipe for a chilling, atmospheric show.

Druckmann says it best himself in that same exclusive: “With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn’t think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show.”

In a vastly different interview with Lessons From the Screenplay, Druckmann dives deep into the narrative nuances and underlying choices made in development in order to give this amazing game such impact, depth and realism still unmatched in the industry. One of the biggest takeaways is how Druckmann infused The Last of Us with emotional beats told through interesting interactive stops in gameplay. Relying on Ellie in certain moments throughout the game in order to move onward is a creative way of building character, and will be even more interesting to experience on the TV screen.

Even beyond that, with a sequel debuting May 29 and a standalone multiplayer thing on the near-horizon, The Last of Us isn’t dying anytime soon.

The Last of Us being adapted into HBO TV series

A television adaptation of The Last of Us, the post-apocalyptic survival franchise from PlayStation studio Naughty Dog, is in the works at HBO, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The project is intended to be a TV series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is being led by Craig Mazin, who previously worked with HBO on the acclaimed 2019 miniseries Chernobyl and is writing the upcoming Borderlands movie. Mazin will team up with Naughty Dog vice president Neil Druckmann, co-director and writer of both The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part 2, to write and executive-produce the TV show.

Naughty Dog president Evan Wells will also serve as an executive producer, alongside veteran HBO producer Carolyn Strauss. The TV series will be the first one from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s film and TV group, PlayStation Productions, which is co-producing with Sony Pictures Television, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

HBO tweeted the announcement Thursday with a clip of the symbol of the Fireflies, a militia in the fiction of The Last of Us, saying that the series is “coming soon.”

The Last of Us debuted in 2013 on PlayStation 3, and was ported to PlayStation 4 the following year. Sony has sold more than 17 million copies of the game across both platforms; players latched on to the thrilling, emotional tale of survivors Joel and Ellie and their cross-country trek for a potential cure to the viral outbreak that destroyed America. Its sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, is scheduled to be released May 29 on PS4.

Mazin and Druckmann plan to cover the events of the original game in the HBO series, although The Hollywood Reporter says there is “the possibility of additional content” based on the sequel.

“Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus,” Mazin told The Hollywood Reporter. “Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honored to do it in partnership with Neil.”

“From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us,” Druckmann said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn’t think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show.”

This won’t be the first attempt at a screen adaptation of The Last of Us. Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures had been developing a movie based on the game as of early 2014, but that project stalled in 2016 after a disagreement with Druckmann over the direction of the film.

Sony Pictures Television, the production company behind hits such as Breaking Bad, Justified, Outlander, and The Crown, plans to bring other video game projects to the small screen. “This is the first of many shows we intend to develop with our friends at PlayStation Productions,” said Chris Parnell, co-president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

US Navy Partners With Twitch, DBLTAP; Will Field A CS:GO Team

The United States Navy continues to move into esports with new ESL, Twitch, and DBLTAP partnerships. An additional deal with Evil Geniuses will see the premier American esports organization hand-pick a competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team of US Navy sailors. Twitch and DBLTAP will produce content surrounding the team, including an episodic series comparing the Navy’s CS:GO team with Evil Geniuses’ professional players.

The Navy, among other branches of the US Armed Forces, have made pushes in recent years to reach the esports audience. The Air Force partnered with tournament organizer Eleague in 2018, sponsoring multiple CS:GO tournaments including the $1,000,000 Boston Major. The USAF also partnered with the CS:GO team of American esports organization Cloud9 that same year. The Army has sponsored Call of Duty events, and has fielded teams in multiple games. The US Navy also pulled away from television advertising, including highly coveted Super Bowl ad slots, in favor of esports tournament streams in December of last year. 

The ESL partnership allows the US Navy host Bring Your Own Computer LANs at DreamHack Open events, the first of which took place in Anaheim, California, earlier this month. The next Open event will feature Starcraft II, Magic: The Gathering Arena, and fighting game tournaments in Dallas, Texas, in May. The partnership also brings LAN stations to these DreamHack tournaments, where fans can play against Naval officers in a variety of games.

The Navy’s expanded partnerships will see the branch build a CS:GO team full of their own sailors. They have tapped American esports organization Evil Geniuses for help, who themselves field a professional CS:GO team that currently stands as the fifth best team in the world. 

Evil Geniuses will aid the Navy in their tryout process, choosing the best sailors for the team. Twitch and DBLTAP will produce content around this, with the former creating a six-episode series that compares the Navy’s sailors with the Evil Geniuses players. DBLTAP will be creating “Role Comparison” videos, which compare the Navy’s roles with that of top-tier esports talent.

“It’s a real excitement to be partnered with the US Navy to help them reach the new generation of servicemen and women,” said Michael Murphy O’Reilly, Director of Esports and Gaming at Minute Media, the parent company of DBLTAP. “We hope that our content will help young esports fans realize that there is more to esports players and Navy squadrons than they might think. As more branches of the military get involved with esports it’s great to see the US Navy focus on bringing unique and original content that will engage fans.”

This project looks to continue throughout 2020, with the Navy’s CS:GO team making its debut appearance alongside Evil Geniuses members at TwitchCon San Diego in September.

The Last Of Us 2 PAX East Demo Cancelled [UPDATE]

[UPDATE] Sony has cancelled its presence at PAX East due to the coronavirus, so there will no longer be a demo for The Last of Us: Part II at the show.

The Last of Us Part 2 is one of 2020’s most-anticipated games, and you have an opportunity to play it ahead of release in May. Developer Naughty Dog has announced that the long-awaited PlayStation 4 exclusive will be playable to the public for the very first time during PAX East in Boston later this month.

As you may recall, Ellie and Joel began their adventure in a fictional post-apocalyptic Boston in the original Last of Us, so this is sort of a homecoming for the franchise. Additionally, the first public hands-on for original Last of Us was held during PAX East in Boston in 2013.

“We thought it would only be fitting to return to the city that started it all to give fans the first-ever public hands-on with The Last of Us Part II,” Naughty Dog said.

PAX East attendees can line up or book an appointment to play a slice of The Last of Us: Part II called “Patrol.” This is an early section of the game during which Ellie and Dina (a new character voiced and performed by WestWorld’s Shannon Woodward) leave Jackson to find and eradicate infected. The demo contains about one hour of gameplay.

Tickets are still available for PAX East, and you can visit the event’s official website to learn more. You can book an appointment to play the demo through the Experience PlayStation mobile app for iOS and Android. PAX East runs February 27-March 1, and the Last of Us: Part II demo will be available each day.

Naughty Dog also confirmed that The Last of Us: Part II is now in the “final stretch” of development, as the studio works to put the “finishing touches” on the game.

“The end of development puts us one very large step closer to launch. We know all of you have been so patient over the last few years, so it’s been thrilling to see our game taking on its final shape and knowing that means it will be in your hands soon,” Naughty Dog said.

Naughty Dog made additional announcements about The Last of Us: Part II today. The studio released a free Last of Us: Part II dynamic PS4 theme and also announced that the game’s more-expensive Ellie Edition will be back in stock this week.
