Apex Legends Introducing Map Rotation, So You Can Choose Your Map

Apex Legends is getting a new limited-time event all about Bloodhound, but it’s coinciding with a permanent change that should make fans happy. When the Old Ways Lore Event begins on April 7, players will be able to select from the game’s two maps: Kings Canyon or Worlds Edge.

As detailed on the EA Blog, the update will add permanent map rotation to the game, letting you choose which map to play in Trios or the newly-returning Duos. This is a marked change from the previous status quo, as Kings Canyon would only be available through limited-time events after it was replaced by Worlds Edge.

The Old Ways Lore Event will run from April 7-21, offering a Town Takeover in Worlds Edge and a new exclusive prize track with exclusive cosmetics.

Apex Legends general manager Dusty Welch recently hinted at a pleasant surprise for Titanfall fans coming in Season 5. Though it’s unclear just what he meant, the recent appearance of a creature from the planet Leviathan could be an indication of another third map coming to the battle royale, set on the location from Titanfall 2.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Review: Dreaming, Don’t Give It Up Musou

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is the latest entry in the Musuo series based on the most popular anime and manga of all time. The game definitely isn’t for people who are unfamiliar with the franchise, but the developers have improved upon almost every aspect of the formula of the series with One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, leading to the best entry in the series yet.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 uses the same gameplay as the Dynasty Warriors series, but transplanted into the world of One Piece. The story of One Piece is filled with frantic battles and heated chases, as Luffy and his crew battle against armies of marines or enemy pirates, so the franchise is a perfect fit for this style of gameplay. The general goal of each level is to take control over areas of the map by wading through weaker foes and taking down elite units & bosses.

The story of One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy on his journey to becoming the Pirate King. We won’t go into depth regarding the story of One Piece, because the game certainly doesn’t. Unlike One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 which went through the story of One Piece from the beginning of the series until the Dressrosa arc, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 only gives snapshots of the story. The game starts during the Alabasta arc and skips over large parts of the story (except in short cut-scenes). In this regard, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is definitely meant for longtime fans of the series who are caught up with the story.

The abbreviated storytelling does pay off in terms of the level design. In One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, many of the stages were identical in terms of what the player needed to do in order to finish them. In One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, the map design is more dynamic and open, while the stage mechanics and objectives are varied enough to keep the story mode interesting throughout the playthrough. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 might not cover all of the stories of One Piece, but it does let players experience the most exciting parts of it.

The only major issue with the story mode is the lack of co-op play. There are separate co-op stages in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, but these usually involve regular boss battles & map control levels. There is only a handful of levels that only require a single player, so there is no reason why co-op couldn’t have been included in the story mode.

Sailing Into The Grand Line

The levels in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 are much better designed than in its predecessor, but it wouldn’t matter if the gameplay hadn’t been altered to match. Fortunately, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 has added new elements to the combat & exploration that have vastly improved the experience. It’s now possible to smash buildings with special attacks, and while this doesn’t significantly alter the gameplay (there are plot-relevant barriers that can’t be broken) it does make the levels feel more dynamic and combat more exciting when you punch enemies through stone walls.

The biggest new addition to One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is jumping and aerial combat. All of the player characters can now leap in huge bounds and perform attacks and special moves in the air. Some of the characters even tailor their moveset around fighting in the air, such as Sanji’s skywalk form. The ability to jump adds a level of verticality to the stages that makes them a lot more fun to explore and it’s now easier to traverse stages when the player is in a hurry. The ability to juggle enemies or escape from combat in the air adds a lot to the fluidity of combat and makes it easier to evade attacks. The only issue with the jumping mechanic is that the camera sometimes has trouble keeping up when the player is zipping around the stage.

The combat mechanics have also been improved in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4. The characteristics and movesets of each character have been altered in order to make them feel more diverse, with everyone falling into a power/speed/technique type that determines their combat style and abilities. All characters now have skill boards with abilities that are unlocked by spending cash, so players can choose to specialize in certain areas or just focus on one character to the detriment of others if they have a favorite.

Two other changes to the game include the addition of giant characters and the armor gauge. The world of One Piece has its share of massive humans and giant monsters, some of which are now playable in the game. These giant foes pack a punch and players will have to switch up their tactics in order to avoid damage and take these behemoths down, as a full-on aggressive approach is a recipe for disaster. The armor gauge is a separate mechanic that protects enemies from damage until it’s depleted. Once the player breaks down the armor gauge, the enemy will be stunned and susceptible to damage, so the player needs to save their special moves for these moments of weakness. These giant battles are a perfect fit for the One Piece world and their addition is one of the best parts of the game.

War In The New World

When the player enters battle in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, the game maintains its frame rate and only a few of the special moves caused any kind of slowdown, but even these were brief. The same cannot be said of the main menu. We played One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 on the PlayStation 4, and there were significant load times on the menus outside of battle, to the point where they became a distraction. Fortunately, the player won’t spend too long on these menus in comparison to the rest of the gameplay, but it’s still frustrating.

A lot of games based on anime/manga properties are slapdash affairs that rely on the strength of their license to sell copies. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is not that kind of game. This is a title that is intended for One Piece fans and it offers one of the most fun trips to the world of pirates so far. There are a few design and technical niggles that stop the game from being a must-have experience and those not familiar with the franchise should play One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 first (or, you know, read the manga/watch the anime) in order to catch up, but the One Piece fans of the world can’t go wrong with One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4.

Final Fantasy 7 Dialogue Was Reworked To Sound More "Natural"

In a new episode detailing the work that went into the upcoming PS4 title Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix has revealed that the team rewrote the game’s dialogue to bring it up-to-date with “modern games.”

The latest behind-the-scenes look at Final Fantasy VII Remake’s development sees longtime series writer Kazushige Nojima explaining his rationale for rewriting the entirety of Final Fantasy VII in preparation for Remake. According to Nojima, FFVII’s text-based dialogue was not the most conducive to effective voice acting.

“When Square Enix told me we were doing Remake, I first asked how much we could alter the dialogue because the dialogue in the original game was designed to be read by the player,” Nojima said. “It was not voiced. [Now that we] have these super realistic characters and performance, I have gone back and written in all the bits that were omitted because we didn’t feel we needed to go into that depth with the original’s simpler characters.”

Game director Motomu Toriyama also chimed in, adding: “But in terms of the character dialogue and conversations, naturally we are keeping all the iconic moments from the original script. But because the original was all text-based, with no facial expressions and quite bare camera work, if we left the dialogue unchanged, it would sound very explanatory and not be up to the same quality as modern games. So, we have edited and reworked it to sound more like natural conversation, but very much kept it having the same impression on the player.”

The developers, alongside producer Yoshinori Kitase, also discuss various other aspects of FFVII Remake in this second documentary episode, including how faithful the reimagining is to its source material, how “nerve-wracking” undertaking such an iconic project was, and more. In other Final Fantasy VII Remake news, Square Enix has disclosed that the forthcoming PS4 game is “comparable in size to other mainline Final Fantasy games.” This piece of information falls in line with Square Enix stating that, because the game has been expanded, Final Fantasy VII Remake will span two Blu-ray discs.

Pokémon Sword and Shield Max Raid Battles now feature Gigantimax Copperajah, Charizard, Garbodor, and Duraladon

Get ready for some new raid challenges.

Out with the old and in with the new gigantic Pokémon, or at least that is what is happening in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

The Wild Area event shifts over to letting players encounter Gigantimax Copperajah, Charizard, Garbodor, and Duraladon.

This new event will give trainers increased odds at encountering Copperajah, Charizard, Garbodor, and Duraladon and their evolutionary lines in Max Raid Battles, with an official rollout set for March 26 and running until an undisclosed time in early April. 

With this shift, Snorlax, Machamp, and Gengar have all been removed from the boosted Max Raid status and will now be normal encounter rates again, while the new Gigantimax event begins. Though there are a few oddly specific changes that have been made with the change too. 

Instead of making one of the Pokémon version exclusive like usual, Game Freak has instead made it so Sword will get five-star raids for Copperajah and Duraladon, while Shield gets Charizard and Garbodor. All four can be caught in both games, but the five-star raid status is exclusive to those designated Pokémon in each version. 

This also adds another wrinkle, as Serebii webmaster Joe Merrick has discovered that the five star Charizard raids in Shield are Shiny Locked, meaning you can’t find Shiny Charizard at all through those encounters. This doesn’t appear to be the case with any of the other five star raids or the four-star Charizard raids in either copy. 

Everything else about the event seems pretty straightforward, so you better get to catching some good Gigantimax Pokémon now before the TBD April end date sneaks up on you.

Für die Fans von VALORANT gibt es nun ein neues Tool, um sich schon vor Release mit den Karten vertraut zu machen. Blitz.gg veröffentlichte eine interaktive Karte, mit der ihr die bisher bekannte Map erkunden könnt.

Immer wieder gibt es neue Informationen zu Riot Games’ neuestem Titel. Zuletzt wurde Agent Sova vorgestellt. Zu den Karten des Shooters gibt es jedoch nur wenig Informationen bisher.

Xbox Series X complete specs revealed, officially compared to a fridge

Microsoft has shared more technical details about the Xbox Series X and officially unveiled the new controller and a redesigned D-pad.

Withboth the PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X possibly being delayed until next year, it looks as ifMicrosoft is trying to drum up as much interest and excitement for its consoleas possible.

Onlya few weeks ago, the company shared anumber of new features for the console, and today it has unveiled the fulltechnical specs.

It honestly looks like just a bunch of numbers to us, but Microsoft goes into a lot more detail on the official website, where it discusses things like more responsive controls and ray-tracing.


The average customer isn’t likely to care very much though, so Microsoft have also uploaded a video to show off just how impressive its console is in terms of loading times.

It’s brief but there is a clear difference between how long it takes to load up State Of Decay 2 on Xbox Series X compared to even the Xbox One X, with the former taking roughly eight/nine seconds and the latter taking near 50 seconds. It’s only one example but it certainly sets a good precedent.

The new controller has been unveiled too. While it doesn’t look all that different to the Xbox One controller, the focus seems to be more on the technical side of things, though senior designer Ryan Whitaker has said that the aim was to make it more inclusive and accommodate a wider range of hand sizes.

Themost notable difference is the directional pad, which has been rounded outsomewhat so players can input diagonal actions much easier.

Where Is Our Persona 5 Royal Review?

Persona 5 Royal hits later this month, but you may be seeing some reviews around the internet right now. However, this is a long RPG (over 100 hours), and I haven’t reached the end yet. One of the key selling points of this enhanced edition is a whole new semester at the end of the narrative, so I want to be sure to experience that before I render my final verdict.

However, with around 75 hours put into the game, I am sure that Royal delivers the best way to experience Persona 5. The new interactions, confidants, and palace additions give more context to the story and fun ways to further connect with the world. I really like Kasumi and Maruki, two new confidants introduced in Royal. These characters not only add interesting and endearing conversations and scenes, but they give you meaningful upgrades and stat boosts for ranking them up. However, I am disappointed and confused about why Kasumi only has 5 ranks instead of the normal 10 for confidants.

If Kasumi eventually joins your party as a full-fledged Phantom Thief, I haven’t gotten there yet. I’ll have to wait to see what happens, but don’t expect to have a brand new party member injecting new life into the group dynamic anywhere in the first 3/4 of the game. Additionally, while I love most of the changes to the palaces and palace bosses, the worst palace of the original game (I won’t spoil it here, but if you played Persona 5, you know the one) is actually made even worse thanks to some alterations.  

The pain points I mentioned are relatively small, especially considering the grand scope of the whole experience. Persona 5 is a notoriously massive RPG full of intriguing systems and fun dungeon design, and Royal takes all of what worked to the next level. Check back for the full review around launch on March 31. Temtem Targeting Spring 2021 Release On PS4, Xbox One, And Nintendo Switch

The Pokemon-inspired Temtem is off to a strong start, just in early access on Steam so far. But developer Crema has bigger plans for the full launch, including ports to consoles next spring. The studio shared its plans in the latest content roadmap.

Following up on another roadmap that detailed short-term plans through most of 2020, the studio outlined some of its long-term goals. The studio says that it expects to have the console ports (previously announced for Switch, PS4, and Xbox One) ready for the 1.0 release in spring 2021.

It also took a moment to address how the versions will interact with each other. Crema says cross-play between versions is technically very simple, and platforms have recently been very open with each other so it seems achievable. Cross-save is more technically challenging, Crema says, but the studio feels confident it can make it work.

Other long-term features include more Temtem, another island, and revisions to ranked matchmaking and spectator mode. Sometime near the planned spring launch, it will also add the endgame island, cosmetics store, battle replay system, and daily and weekly quests.

The update is careful to note that planned features are not entirely set in stone, and dates may shift.

“We’re not really big fans of having public dates for everything, they add a lot of unnecessary pressure on the team and they make making changes and swapping features around a very difficult task,” the studio states. “We know everyone else likes dates though, so we’ve decided to include open dates for each block of features. Take them with a grain of salt and expect delays and features moved around dates.”

Modern Warfare Teases Battle Royale With In-Store Bundle Containing Toxic Event Emblem

More hints have been dropped for the likely probability that a battle royale mode will come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in March. The most recent suggestion comes in the form of an emblem image for an upcoming event.

While a set of leaks and teases had preceded it, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s in-game store was updated with a variety of brand-new bundles. One of the bundles includes something known as the “Toxic Event.”

Titled the “Hazardous” bundle, it will run those interested 1,500 COD Points, which equates to $15. It includes two blueprints for the AX-50 sniper and the M1911. Additionally, the bundles adds a charm and has the Toxic Event emblem. The curious emblem can be seen below.

As seen above, the emblem is fitting of the event’s name. A gaseous, green cloud, topped by a cloud in the shape of a skull, enshrouds a city in the image. There are white streaks that sort of resemble lightning, which could signify weather events. This is especially prominent because many believe the battle royale mode will feature a poisonous cloud as the closing circle that shrinks the arena. However, these exist likely to just add emphasis to the destructive force of chemical warfare, especially as seen in the game’s campaign.

At this point, the chances that a battle royale mode won’t soon come to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are slimmer than the opposite. From a leak projecting that the mode will support up to 200 players to key art that had revealed the mode’s name, many indicators are pointing to an eventual battle royale mode.

Also, publisher Activision taking action against those who leaked it also sends the message that the leaks have been legitimate. Otherwise, the trailer recently released for Season 2 spells out Infinity Ward’s clear intention to add a battle royale mode to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

For those tired of having to get their Call of Duty battle royale fix through Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the projected March launch window probably can’t come soon enough. A player count of 200 is quite ambitious, so it will be interesting to see how well Infinity Ward pulls it off in Modern Warfare.
