Destruction AllStars is fantastic car smashing multiplayer fun on the PS5
This car smashing game was meant to be one of the hit new exclusive titles to help launch the PlayStation 5 last November.
But the developers decided to pull it fairly late on to give it a bit more polish.
And the extra wait was well worth it, with Sony now able to crow about yet another great Playstation-only title for their fledgling console.
This is a multiplayer-focused game that immediately reminds you of another top PS Plus subscription freebie from a few years back, Rocket League.
That car based title saw you scoring goals with a giant ball in a football-style tournament arena while driving a motor.
This one is similar in that you’re facing off against online rivals in different cars in an enclosed circuit, but the kicker here is you have to use your motors as weapons and smash them up against the other players, trying to ‘wreck’ their cars.
As such, it’s a frantic video game where you’ll find yourself running and hopping in and out of vehicles, ramming them at speed into other cars and then doing it all again to rack up as much points as possible.
British developer Lucid Games has done a great job here pitting breakneck racing speed alongside wanton vehicle destruction and clever arenas that fire up fancy cars just when you need a slick new ride.
Gamers asked to 'stop having sex with Keanu Reeves' in video game
It’s addictive, great fun and all about people playing online together.
And it feels original, even if many of the individual elements are borrowed from other games.
If you have a PS Plus subscription it’s a no brainer to download this free title at some point over the next two months before it becomes paid for.
Destruction AllStars is a brilliant new addition to the PS5 roster and will brighten up dull February with some colourful car-smashing fun.
