Need For Speed Developer Teases News At EA Play Live

Expect some news about the next Need for Speed game at EA Play Live, according to a tease from developer Criterion. In a post on the game’s official site, Criterion said that it will be shifting gears from Need for Speed Heat to the next title in the series after tomorrow’s final update adds cross-play.

In the post, Criterion also said, “Keep an eye out at EA Play Live on June 18 for more Need for Speed and Steam announcements,” teasing news about the franchise and possibly about Criterion’s first Need for Speed title since taking the series back from Ghost Games.

“You’ll know from our past history that we want to bring players together however we can. With this announcement and what we’re working on for the future, we’re focused on uniting the wider Need for Speed community–so that you can play, race and compete with all of your friends.”

Ghost Games developed the last four Need for Speed titles and the next game will be Criterion’s first entry in the franchise since Need for Speed: Most Wanted in 2012. EA Play Live was previously delayed to June 18 in light of ongoing racial justice protests.
