Xbox Series X Compatible Game Leaked, And It Stars Spongebob

With new consoles around the corner, publishers are preparing games for the next generation. That includes some big-budget games like Halo Infinite and Hellblade 2, but also the smaller standard releases you’d expect to see hitting any console. One more was leaked by a retailer, confirming that in the next generation you can still live in a pineapple under the sea.

Nickelodeon Kart Racer 2: Grand Prix was leaked by Target (via Wario64) for PS4 and Xbox One, and it will be playable on Xbox Series X as well. The roster consists of 70 racers, with a few notable faces appearing on the cover including Spongebob Squarepants, Ninja Turtles, Korra, and Ren and Stimpy. It’s listed for release on October 6, 2020. The Xbox One box is marked with a small bar under the platform that lists its Series X compatibility.

This will be a sequel to 2018’s Nickelodeon Kart Racers, which received generally negative reviews on GameSpot sister site Metacritic. The consensus appears to be that it was just a relatively bland kart racer when there are better options to choose from.

Microsoft is committing to making its own games cross-generational for the next few years, but third parties are permitted to make console exclusives. Sony is mandating all PS4 games certified after July 13 also be compatible on PS5, but unlike Microsoft, it’s planning to produce PS5 console exclusives right out of the gate.

We’ll get our first look at a lot of Sony’s plans for the next generation today with the PS5 reveal event. While you wait for that, check out everything we know about PS5 so far.
