You Can Rebind Left-Click In Diablo 4

In Diablo 4, players will finally be able to do something they’d always wanted to do: rebind the left-click button.

Ever since the days of the original Diablo, left-click had always meant the same thing: move and attack. The simplicity of the system was praised at the time; if you want something dead, just click on it. If you want to go somewhere, just click on that place.

However, there was a problem with this simplicity. With both attack and movement bound to the same key, ranged attackers would have trouble moving to a place that’s occupied by an enemy. This isn’t a problem for melee-based characters as attacking an enemy meant moving right next to them, but if a ranged character needed to get close to an enemy (in order to get away from an even worse foe, for example), then they needed to click with extreme precision or else start attacking that lesser foe and perish to the greater one.

It’s a problem that persists even in Diablo 3, where players can rebind the skill being used on the left-click button but not rebind their actual movement key. In Diablo 4, that will change.

In the most recent developer blog update, Blizzard revealed that a long-requested feature will finally be implemented in Diablo 4. Players can finally rebind their left-click button so that movement and attacking can be on two separate buttons.

This is a truly grand improvement for Diablo, but that’s not all that’s changing. Since the game is being designed simultaneously for both console and PC, Diablo 4 will allow players to seamlessly swap between using a mouse and keyboard or a controller. The UI and inventory screens will be equally navigable depending on your preferred input, and those playing couch co-op will find those screens to be perfectly legible even when both characters are looking at their stats.

Blizzard also discussed the latest monster family to arrive in Diablo 4: the Cannibals. Said to be a former tribe of barbarians that were banished from Mount Arreat, Cannibals feed off unsuspecting travelers and villages, taking people away like livestock to consume later.
