Spider-Man Spins A New Costume For 2021

The new Sin Rising arc is certainly a moving story for Peter Parker and his cohorts, whether it’s his Spider-themed amazing friends or his merry cast of side characters. The aftermath, a classic Kingpin face-off, will see Peter donning a new Spider-Man costume, one that has just been unveiled by Marvel with a March release date.

Currently, Nick Spencer’s run is up to #54, but come next year with issue #62, The Amazing Spider-Man will see Peter Parker in his brand new attire. The color scheme is very different from what we’re used to as it is blue, white, and orange rather than the classic red & blue. Orange truly is the new black.

Going off of first glance, the suit certainly feels like a mishmash between Spider-Man’s normal attire and his Future Foundation set. Although appearing more tech-based like some of Slott’s comics, it doesn’t appear too armored. However, the new suit does have glowing eyes and accents – subtlety is certainly key here.

The variant cover artist behind #62 which was revealed by Marvel today is Dustin Weaver, who explained the origins of the suit. He stated, “The design was a collaborative effort between Nick Spencer, Editor Nick Lowe, and I. They reined in the weirder and more techy features I was bringing and helped create something that I think is simple and both futuristic and classical.”

Whilst Patrick Gleason is taking the reigns on the comic itself, Weaver did have some kind words to say to him. He shared with the world his excitement in seeing Gleason take on the new suit in action, so to speak, which is about as wholesome as it gets when it comes to comic artists sharing the love.

Perhaps, with March so close and Spider-Man Remastered having just dropped on the PlayStation 5, we’ll see this new suit added to Insomniac’s game. If not, no hard feelings – they gave fans the highly-requested Maguire, Bag-mask, Garfield, and Future Foundation costumes. Expanding on that roster would be wonderful, but players are definitely already grateful for what’s been added completely free of charge.
