Marvel’s Avengers has been confirmed as one of the most popular games on the PlayStation Now streaming service.
And today, it’s being replaced by a wave of new titles that includes Red Dead Redemption 2.
Rumours of such a swap were first shared earlier this month after a leaked video ad emerged.
And Sony has today announced its plans, confirming that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be added to PS Now on July 6.
And Red Dead 2 won’t be the only big PS4 game that will be available to play via the streaming platform in July.
The tech giant has also revealed plans to add God of War, Nioh 2, Judgment, Moving Out, Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and Nascar Heat 5.
Judgement will be available to play for the shortest period, with the Sega title scheduled to leave the platform in October 2021.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is the only other game with a set end date, with Sony planning to drop the title in November 2021.
Sony has also confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available on PlayStation Now until November 1, 2021 exclusively via PS4/PS5 download.
As mentioned above, these seven new games for PlayStation Now will be available to play on Tuesday, July 6.
This is the same day that the latest free PS Plus games will be available to download and play from the PlayStation Store.
This month’s lineup has two PS4 games and one PS5 title that is available exclusively to next-gen console owners.
A Plague Tale: Innocence will remain available to download on PS5 consoles until August, alongside WWE 2K Battlegrounds and Black Ops 4 on PS4.
While gamers will have a fresh lineup of new games to play this week, they will also be losing Marvel’s Avengers.
Playstation Now offers ‘hundreds of games on demand’
And what makes this removal a little different is that Avengers has proven very popular across all PS Now platforms.
Sony confirmed that it was the most played game on PS4 and PS5 console between March 1 and June 1, and the fourth most played on PC over the same period.
The data looks even more impressive when you take into account that this includes information from March 1 to June, with Marvel’s Avengers only added to the service during April.
This means that even though it was only available for two of the three months included, it still proved immensely popular with subscribers.
