One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey!! Sails Onto Smartphones
Bandai Namco Entertainment has launched the newest free-to-play title for mobile devices, One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey!!
Based upon the long-running manga and anime series of the same name, One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey!! reunites everyone’s favorite pirate crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, and transforms them into the most adorable, chibi-styled, Bonbon puzzle pieces. The title is the first puzzle-based game in the One Piece franchise and is free-to-download with optional in-app purchases. It is available on the App Store for iOS devices and through Google Play for Android devices.
One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey!! is a match-three puzzle game, meaning players must line up three matching characters in a row to attack an enemy. Once a match is made, they’ll trigger an explosion that will send their enemies flying. Players will win and clear a level once their enemy’s hit points reach zero. Be aware of each different Bonbon’s skills, as each kind of Bonbon has its own unique attack.
An official trailer for the game, featuring gameplay footage, was posted to Bandai Namco’s official YouTube page.
Players also can relive their favorite moments from the One Piece anime in the game. One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey!! begins in Windmill Village, but from there they’ll set sail to travel through the rest of the pirate adventures from the show.
In addition to clearing levels and playing through the story, gamers also have the opportunity to decorate their home island, à la Animal Crossing-style. As players clear levels, they can collect Bonbons and use them to decorate their own island.
Though this is the first puzzle game in the franchise, it’s not the first time One Piece has made its way to mobile devices. Bandai Namco previously released the One Piece Treasure Cruise, One Piece Thousand Storm, and One Piece Grand Collection titles for iOS and Android devices. More recently, they released One Piece Bounty Rush for mobile devices in January 2019.
One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey!! is available now as a free-to-play app for iOS and Android devices. Players can download the game through the App Store and Google Play, respectively.
