Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix Launches Tomorrow (In Case You Were Wondering)

As we get closer and closer to the release of many next-gen consoles like the PS5, it can be easy to miss some announcements – specifically when there are juicy leaks about Cyberpunk and rumors about Godfall’s graphics. Of course, there are also some announcements that cater to a very specific crowd. Announcements like the fact that Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix launches on the PS4 tomorrow.

There are literally tens of thousands of games out there, so you can be forgiven if you didn’t know that this major release was happening tomorrow… and also for not knowing that there was a first one.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 looks like what you would probably expect. It’s not particularly pretty to look at, but it does have a lot of Nickelodeon characters to play as. We’re talking everyone from Aang to Spongebob and Patrick, as well as even older characters— such as Arnold from Hey! Arnold.

The game appears to follow in the footsteps of games like Crash Team Racing and Mario Kart. Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 specifically cribs Mario Kart 8’s trick system, with the characters exiting vehicles, doing flips, or just spinning around in mid-air with their hands up. There’s no shortage of characters, either, as the marketing boasts “the largest collection of Nickelodeon characters ever in a Kart game!”

It’s been a while since we sat down to watch Nickelodeon cartoons, but we’re sure that there are characters in there that will make us say, “oh yeah, I remember that cartoon!” We’re not so sure that we needed to see them in a racing game, but hey, there you have it. Unlike the first installment, you’ll be able to race online with Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2—which should make things more interesting if you do decide to pick this title up.

It’ll be available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One tomorrow, with a PC release on December 1. Unfortunately, there is no word on crossplay at this point, so we will just have to cross our fingers and hope.
