Games with Gold March 2020: Xbox One free games news from Microsoft for Xbox Live
Microsoft is set to announce its new Games with Gold March 2020 plans for Xbox One and Xbox 360 in the coming days. The tech giant will confirm the news by the end of the week, and before the latest free games are launched. Unfortunately, the tech giant hasn’t dropped any juicy hints which could help to reveal what is being planned next for the popular Games with Gold program.
And there is never any guarantee of what might be offered to Xbox One gamers, who are usually looking for AAA titles to be made free as part of their Xbox Live Gold subscription.
For now, TT Isle of Man and Call of Cthulhu are the current free games available to download on consoles.
TT Isle of Man will be replaced on Sunday, March 1, 2020, with something new, while the Call of Cthulhu will remain available until the 16th.
But unlike Sony’s PlayStation Plus service on the PlayStation 4, Xbox Games with Gold reveals are a little harder to predict.
Microsoft can announce its planned lineup whenever it wants, with last month’s announcement arriving on January 28.
- GeForce Now just revealed worrying news for PS5 and Xbox Series X
So the same thing could happen in the coming days, although we would predict something dropping on February 25.
So it will be worth watching Microsoft’s social media feeds every day this week, until we find out what is being planned for March 2020.
When it comes to predicting what new games will be announced, there are far too many titles to pick from to make an educated guess.
Gamers want titles that have been well-reviewed or something they’ve never played before.
Last year’s Games with Gold selection included Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2, which speaks to how random the selection can be.
Meanwhile, the classic titles supplied from the Xbox 360 included Star Wars: Republic Commando and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
And until we hear more, gamers can enjoy a few secondary Xbox Live Gold bonuses, courtesy of Microsoft. Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download and play Valkyria Chronicles 4, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Shining Resonance Refrain for free this weekend.
This will be the last chance for many, as these Free Play Days trials are set to end at 8am GMT, on February 24, 2020. The trial might be limited by time but it isn’t by content, with all three games offering the full gameplay experiences.
The good news is that if you like either game, you can buy them at a discounted price for as long as the Free Play Days event is active. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is described as part RPG, part real time 3rd-person shooter, and part overhead turn-based strategy.
“Help Squad E of the Federation in their resolve against waves of soldiers, chilling blizzards, and the godlike powers of the Valkyrie.”
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker lets you play 4 vs. 4 in team-based gameplay against others online, while Shining Resonance Refrain is a JRPG boasting classic real-time action combat.
“Team up in Shining Resonance Refrain against the tyrannical Empire and stop their plans to exploit the power of ancient dragons in Astoria.”
All three games will be discounted by at least 50% off during this event, which has been set up with a definite Anime feel.
