After a long silence, BioWare has finally talked about the new, untitled Dragon Age, showing off concept art and unfinished gameplay.

We all knew that a new Dragon Age was in the works, but with how little developer BioWare has talked about it, fans couldn’t help but feel concerned about it.

But those fears have now been cast aside, as BioWare finally said something about the next, as of yet untitled, game at Gamescom Opening Night Live and even released a sort-of trailer.

It mostly consists of BioWare staff talking about the game, interspersed with concept art and a couple bits of unfinished gameplay.

It’s not surprising to see it still early in development, as it was previously reported that a new Dragon Age wouldn’t release until 2022.

While not a whole lot was revealed about it, BioWare did share a general idea of what we can expect from the story.

It sounds quite topical, as it will put you in control of a character who starts off with ‘no power,’ in a world where ‘the people in charge aren’t willing to address the issues.’

BioWare also confirmed that Solas, one of the companion characters from Dragon Age: Inquisition, will be returning and voice actor Gareth David-Lloyd will be reprising the role.

Some fans believe they’ve spotted another Inquisition companion, Dorian, in one piece of concept art (around the 1:09 mark), which suggests that we could be seeing quite a few familiar faces.

Decision-making, a key element of the series, is briefly mentioned as well, so players can once again expect certain choices they make to have lasting consequences, with one example given being that party members can permanently die.

Despite how little was really shown or discussed about it, a quick look at the comments shows that Dragon Age fans are quite thrilled to see something from the next game.

‘What, me? No, I’m not crying because a game series I’ve been in love with for like 1- years finally posted an official update on the next instalment. I would never.’

‘I have never (seriously) clicked so fast.’

‘I screamed and cried when they mentioned Dragon Age 4.’

The new Dragon Age is currently in development with an expected 2022 release date.
