Cyberpunk 2077’s Cars Can Finally Fly Thanks To This Mod
A new mod for Cyberpunk 2077 lets cars fly in the air, just like many players wanted from the game's initial release.
Ever since its initial release, Cyberpunk 2077 has been a haven for modders, who have worked their way through the game and added a ton of fan-requested features, including adding things that were promised for the game before launch, like the railway system, and tweaking parts of the game that were heavily criticised, such as the behaviour of the police.
By far one of the most requested features to come to Cyberpunk 2077 is the ability to make vehicles fly, something that makes sense in the futuristic world of Night City. Cyberpunk 2077's base game doesn't even feature controllable aircraft like helicopters or planes, however, so the ability to make cars and bikes fly has seemed like a pipe dream – until now.
As pointed out by Twitter user LastKnownMeal, modder jackhambert has released a mod titled "Let There Be Flight" that lets players ride their cars in the air to their heart's content. A short video posted by LastKnownMeal shows the player driving their car into the air and gliding around Night City from high above with pretty much zero restrictions. Impressively, the mod also seems to add thrusters to the car that open and close as it approaches the ground.
The mod is currently available on GitHub for everyone to download, although jackhambert notes that it's still in beta. His description of the mod reads, "This is a mod (currently in a beta state) for Cyberpunk 2077 that adds a flying mechanism to all cars, with a couple different modes and options". A video posted by jackhambert shows what's called the "Acrobat Mode", although it's not made clear what the mode itself does.
Other features include: In-world navigation for quests and player-selected destinations (with appropriate colors), imminent explosion audio indicator, visual explosions happen more readily with other cars, and quick-eject in flight mode (hold exit)". YouTube videos showcasing the mod also confirm that bikes can be driven in the air too, if that's more your style.
