CD Projekt Red Is Teasing A Cyberpunk 2077 Announcement For Tomorro

CD Projekt Red has announced a new Redstreams is coming tomorrow at 4 PM CET (10 AM ET, 7 AM PT). CD Projekt Red didn’t say exactly what the stream would discuss, but judging by the Cyberpunk-speak h in the tweet, we’re going to guess it has something to do with Cyberpunk 2077.

“We'll talk things, y'know,” is the only clue we get. Tune in on CD Projekt Red’s Twitch channel for more details tomorrow.

But I've got word quotas to hit, so it's time to hit the speculation button. Last November, CD Projekt delayed both Cyberpunk's and Witcher 3's current-gen updates to early 2022, with Cyberpunk 2077 getting it in the first quarter. A second "major update" would also arrive sometime in early 2022, although no details of that were provided, and discussion continued on a proposed Cyberpunk expansion.

So based on that alone, we can hope to see all three topics discussed during tomorrow’s livestream. If we're really lucky, we'll get a surprise current-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and then the livestream will spend most of its time discussing the next major update and when we can expect the game's first expansion.

But at the same time, don't get too excited. CD Projekt Red has already confirmed earlier this month it is shifting resources to start work on two unannounced triple-A games. Sure, CD Projekt has expanded since the beginning of Cyberpunk 2077 with an acquisition or two, but how much more work can you put into Cyberpunk 2077 with two more triple-A games on the go?

Things have been pretty quiet for Cyberpunk 2077. The game received a minor update in January that everyone was hoping would be the current-gen update, but it turned out to be mostly nothing. That was the first update since last October, and since then we've really just watched Cyberpunk players waste time by ninja-ing their way up Arasaka Tower. This livestream will be the first real Cyberpunk news in months. Here’s hoping it’s worth the wait.
