Call of Duty fans are counting down to the release of the Season 2 Reloaded update. Adding new content and making countless gameplay tweaks and bug fixes, the Season 2 Reloaded update will be available across Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2 at 4pm GMT on March 15. PlayStation users can pre-load the patch ahead of launch, while Xbox and PC users will be able to download the update closer to the 4pm launch time.
Activision explains more: “Season 02 Reloaded will see the release of an all-new Core Multiplayer map, a Camo Challenge Event, a new functional weapon, and plenty more free content across both games.”
The highlight of the Reloaded update is arguably the launch of a brand new core multiplayer map in Modern Warfare 2.
The Himmelmatt Expo map is a 6v6 battlefield set on a European mountainside, where players will fight among restaurants, bars and snowy streets.
“Tromp through the snowy streets, past the saunas and pool, and go for a drink — or better yet, a solid vantage point — in the Restaurant and Bar.
“Head into the main event centre to shake off the cold and heat up in battles taking place across the lounge and terrace and in the enclosed theatre below.”
Raid Episode 02 will also make an appearance in Season 2 Reloaded, as Captain Price, Farah, and Gaz progress through Atomgrad in search of a deadly warhead.
Completing the Raid unlocks the “Bad Boonie” Operator Skin for Captain Price, which can be used across Warzone and Modern Warfare 2.
Other features include the brand new Path of the Ronin camos, the introduction of the Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle and free Warzone gifts to celebrate the game’s third anniversary.
Then there’s the release of the Shredder skin from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is available as part of the Tracer Pack in the store.
To celebrate the release of the new season, Activision has announced plans to make Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer component free for everybody from March 16 until March 20. That’s eight modes across six maps, including the newly released Himmelmatt Expo battleground.
