Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta rumoured for September

The beta sessions for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 are said to take place in September, with gameplay reveals coming in August.

With this year’s Call Of Duty scheduled to release in October, Activision and Infinity Ward will be launching a public beta in the coming months.

Activision has already confirmed that pre-ordering any version of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will include early access to the beta, but it hasn’t shared a start date.

Recently, it’s been claimed that the plan is to have the beta out in mid to late September.

Much like the beta for Call Of Duty: Vanguard, the Modern Warfare 2 beta is expected to be temporarily exclusive to PlayStation before coming to other platforms.

The beta will be spread across two weekends, with the first being PlayStation only. Those with early access will be able to start playing from September 15, with it becoming open to all PlayStation owners for September 17 to September 19.

It will then launch for Xbox and PC the following weekend from September 24 to September 26. Again, anyone who pre-orders the game can start playing a couple days earlier from September 22.

This is all according to RalphsValve via WhatIfGaming, who has reliably leaked numerous details about Modern Warfare 2 before, including the date for the game’s campaign reveal.

He’s even claimed to know details of Treyarch’s next Call Of Duty title, widely assumed to be another Call Of Duty: Black Ops sequel.

There were some assumptions that the beta would arrive in August, but RalphsValve adds that Activision will instead spend that month sharing more details on Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer.

There have been frequent rumours of a new DMZ mode for Modern Warfare 2, which is said to be an extraction-based mode similar to Escape From Tarkov.

RalphsValve shared details about the DMZ mode not too long ago, describing it as open world with PvP and PvE elements, and featuring a storyline that acts as a continuation of Modern Warfare 2’s campaign.

Strangely, he refers to it as a separate title altogether, with it launching independently of Modern Warfare 2 in the first quarter of 2023, following a formal announcement in August.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 28.
