Beginner Tips For Playing Yasuo In Wild Rift

Yasuo is a roaming swordsman who dominates any solo lane in. He is ideal for anyone who is looking to deal a lot of damage very quickly. The trade-off is he is quite a squishy chap with limited utility. He is one of the more challenging characters to boot, which makes mastering him rather satisfying.

Because Yasuo is so restricted in his niche, ie, he is a glass cannon, you need to rely on your team to come on top when things start heating up. League Of Legends: Wild Rift is a team-based game, and acting the lone wolf won’t get you very far – even against the comparatively simple AI bots.

Finally, before you hop into Yasuo, you should have an idea of where he excels. Yasuo loves solo lanes. This means he is excellent when running either Mid or Top.

Know Your Skills

Passive/Active Skills

Way Of The Wanderer (Passive Skill)
  • Resolve: Moving builds Flow. At max Flow, damage from a Champion or Monster grants a temporary shield.
  • Intent: Yasuo’s Critical Rate is doubled, but his Critical Strike Damage is reduced to 180%.
Steel TempestThis is best used as a mobility tool. Steel Tempest has a lot of synergies. Firstly, it is treated as an Attack for Crits. Secondly, when used, you gain stacks. At stacks, Steel Tempest will know enemies airborne. Finally, Steel Tempest, when used during Sweeping Blades animation, will strike in an AOE.
Wind WallWind Wall is Yasuo’s main utility skill. It has a long cooldown, however, it will completely block all projectiles that collide with it for 4 seconds. This can be lifesaving for both you and your party, and can effectively shut down powerful skill-shot ultimates if timed correctly.
Sweeping BladeSweeping Blade is another mobility tool that has an incredibly short cooldown. Yasuo dashes THROUGH a target enemy and can recast this every 0.4 seconds. The catch is that you can’t cast this on the same enemy within 8 seconds. You can use Sweeping Blade to rapidly dash through groups of enemies to engage squishy backline units.
Last Breath (Ultimate Skill)Last Breath is Yasuo’s ultimate, and it is quite the doozy. It can only be used on Airborne enemies but will keep them suspended for longer giving the move a surprising amount of CC. Not only that, but Yasuo will also max his Flow and gain bonus Armour Penetration when landing Critical Strikes, giving him a noticeable damage increase that persists after the initial burst.

What Attacks To Charge First

  1. Steel Tempest should be your go-to start. It deals great damage, has good scaling, offers excellent mobility, works nicely with Way Of The Wanderer, will combo into Sweeping Blade later on, and has a CC element.
  2. Next, you want to add that synergy with Steel Tempest and take Sweeping Blade. This will give Yasuo a staggering amount of mobility. You can now execute very effective hit-and-run strikes.
  3. Wind Wall will depend heavily on your opponent. You will either take it after Sweeping Blade, or you will delay it. If your opponent is a melee opponent, then Wind Wall may not be worth the investment this early. In this case, start pumping Steel Tempest.
  4. Once you have gotten Steel Tempest maxed, Sweeping Blade is the next obvious pick, granting an increase in your combo damage.
  5. Last Breath should be charged every time you get the opportunity. It takes priority over everything.
  6. Since Wind Wall works just as effectively at level one, you want to charge this ability last.

Learning About Item Loadouts

Crit Fighter

As you may have guessed from Yasuo’s amazing passive, he loves Crit. This will be a theme in all of his builds. This one, in particular, will prioritise Crit Chance and Attack Speed with some dabbling in some defences to make up for Yasuo’s general lack of resilience.

Blade Of The Ruined KingYasuo gains bonuses for his Attack Damage and Attack Speed, whilst also gaining bonus Vamp, percentage-based damage, magic burst damage and movement leeching.
Solari Charge BladeGrants a significant bonus to Critical Rate, attack speed and haste. Additionally, gains Sunburst, which deals additional damage that can also Crit.
Gluttonous QuicksilverYasuo gains Physical and Magic Vamp, as well as a buff to his movement speed. Also grants an active that clears all CC, and a passive that grants Tenacity and Slow Resist.
Trinity ForceAnother item that grants damage and attack speed bonuses. In addition, Trinity Force will increase Health and Haste. Trinity Force will also deal additional burst damage after an ability is used, as well as a boost to Movement Speed on attack and kill.

Mercury’s QuicksilverMercury’s Quicksilver, provides all the benefits of Quicksilver, with an additional bonus to Magic Resistance as well as innate Tenacity.
Infinity EdgeAnother powerful Crit Chance item. Infinity Edge grants a significant Attack Damage boost, as well as a Crit Rate boost. Infinity Edge also increases Crit Damage – negating Yasuo’s passive negative.
Death’s DanceDeath’s Dance is a tricky item that converts a percentage of Physical Damage taken into True Damage that is applied over time. Quick Note About Spells

Ignite is an obvious “go-to” for any damage-based character. Ignite will net you more kills than you cant count, and should be used on weak fleeing enemies you can’t catch otherwise.

Flash on the other hand is an excellent mobility tool that allows you to hop walls and escape danger in a pinch. It synergises wonderfully with Yasuo’s other mobility tricks and can be used as a “get out of jail” card.
