Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Fan Solves The Mystery Of The Final Aesir Sage
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a game packed with mysteries. One eagle-eyed fan has finally discovered the identity of the final Aesir sage. The man in question is King Harald Fairhair who unites the clans of Norway at the beginning of the game, prompting Eivor and Sigurd’s excursion to England. Redditor, Lacrossedeamon made the discovery when they noticed the distinct black mark on Harald’s neck, concealed by his hair. This mark is shared by all of the characters who are reincarnated versions of the Aesir gods.

For those that aren’t too familiar with Assassin’s Creed lore, allow me to explain what this means. Be prepared for pretty big spoilers for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. A big twist in the story late in the game reveals that Eivor and Sigurd have ties to the Isu, a race of god-like humans that lived before humans. Two optional chapters in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla give us a glimpse of this civilization whose leadership is made up of Norse gods we are already familiar with like Odin, Thor, and Freya.
As is shown at the end of these chapters, Odin and company are seen plugging themselves into Yggdrasil which allows them to reincarnate as other people later on in history before they meet their demise at Ragnarok. The player comes to learn that Odin and Tyr are reincarnated as Eivor and Sigurd respectively and that Basim is the reincarnated version of Loki.
Since the game was released, many fans have been searching for the characters who could be the reincarnated forms of the other Aesir gods that followed Odin. For example, it was recently discovered that Halfdan Ragnarsson – leader of the Eurvicscire region – is the reincarnation of Thor. Before today, only one character was left to be discovered, and that character has now been revealed to be King Harald. Which God he is the reincarnation of is still to be determined.
For those wanting to learn more about Assassin’s Creed lore and the Isu, you may be interested to know that Assassin’s Creed fan site, Access the Animus, recently deciphered the Isu language which has led to all sorts of amazing discoveries. Perhaps more mysteries will be discovered in the game’s two upcoming expansions later this year. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia.
