Assassins Creed Ragnarok reveal TODAY? Ubisoft set to ‘announce Vikings themed PS5 game’

Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok is expected to be the next entry in Ubisoft’s hugely popular stealth action series, and it is rumoured to be coming to the PS5. The rumour mill has been abuzz with claims about the next Assassin’s Creed, which is expected to be a cross-gen title that is set during the Viking era. Anticipation is high for the next Assassin’s Creed game, as the last title in the iconic series – Odyssey – was released back in 2018.

But this drought of Assassin’s Creed news could soon be over, with Ubisoft tipped to announce the rumoured Ragnarok game today.

The rumours were sparked after industry analyst Daniel Ahmad revealed that the French dev and publisher has a mysterious announcement pencilled in for today.

The news was revealed by the Weibo account for Ubisoft China who teased the news will be coming at 8pm Chinese time today.

For those in the UK that’s 1pm BST and if you’re in the US that is 9am eastern time.

Announcing the news Ahmad posted on Twitter: “Ubisoft China is teasing an announcement for April 29, 8pm (China time).

“They set a notification on Weibo for it.”

Ahmad later added: “It’s worth paying attention to Ubisoft social media outside of China too. Both today and tomorrow.”

It remains to be seen what the upcoming announcement from Ubisoft is, and whether it’s news on the mysterious next Assassin’s Creed game.

Or whether it’s an update on another title entirely such as Beyond Good and Evil 2, Watch Dogs Legion or something else entirely.

With E3 2020 cancelled this year publishers and devs will be changing up the way they make those announcement that had been scheduled for the annual, landmark expo.

Ahmad had previously indicated as much, saying some news that was scheduled for E3 week will be coming later while other reveals will be dropping much earlier.

Previously the Niko Partners senior analyst tweeted: “With E3 cancelled, a lot of the planned reveals / announcements have been moved out of that single week.

“Some are now much earlier, others much later. Some still during E3 week ofc.

“The first proper next gen console/games showcase is much earlier too.”

Earlier this year rumours surrounding the next Assassin’s Creed game were kicked up a notch when a product listing for Ragnarok appeared on Amazon Germany.

The listing for Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok said the new Ubisoft game will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series X

The listing also revealed three different versions of Assassin’s Creed Ragnarok. These editions are the standard, gold and valhalla editions.

No release dates were given, with it unclear if this was merely a placeholder on Amazon or official information that leaked early.
