Apex Legends Mobile Is Being Sunset On May 1
Respawn Entertainment has announced that it will be sunsetting Apex Legends Mobile later this year due to "factors beyond our control" that has stopped the studio from maintaining a "high-quality experience". On May 1 at 4pm PDT, support for Apex Legends will officially cease and the game will no longer be playable.
This was announced in a statement released on Respawn's official Twitter account, in which the studio calls the decision a "painful" one to make. The studio then thanks all of the players and teams who tried out Apex Legends Mobile while it was active, which definitely wasn't long consdering the game only launched on May 17 last year, meaning the game won't even be a year old before it's shut down.
"This decision does not come with ease," reads the statement. "Factors beyond our control have prevented us from maintaining the high-quality experience and content that our players deserve. Our gratidtude to our players and team for joining us on Apex Legends Mobile, even if for a short while, is unending. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you."
However, this may not be the end for Apex Legends on mobile devices. According to comments in a recent earnings call – shared by Axios Gaming co-author Stephen Totilo – EA CEO Andrew Wilson stated that the the company was only closing this "version" of Apex Legends Mobile, suggesting the publisher may have other plans for mobile. Whatever the case, it looks like you'll only have a few months left to enjoy Apex Legends on the go for the forseeable future.
