Animal Crossing Summer Update 2: Cloud backup, fireworks and dreaming confirmed
Earlier this year, Nintendo promised that we'd be getting two updates for Animal Crossing over the summer – and now we know exactly what the second update is going to add.
The promised second summer update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has finally been revealed by the Japanese company, and it promises to introduce a few massive changes.
According to the developer itself, two big gameplay features are being added to the game in the form of the ability to dream and new fireworks shows.
Better yet, after months of players asking for it, the developer is finally adding the ability for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers to backup their save to the cloud as part of the new update.
All of this will be available in-game on July 30th.
Finally, the cloud backup feature was detailed.
"Nintendo Switch Online members can enable the new island backup service, which automatically uploads island and user save data to the internet at certain times," Nintendo noted.
"If your Nintendo Switch system is lost or damaged, you may be able to recover your island paradise as long as you’ve enabled island backup.
"In the event of loss or damage, contact Nintendo Consumer Support about restoring the island and user save data on your new or repaired Nintendo Switch system.
"After your island data and individual player data is restored, you can get back to building your island community."
Additionally, Nintendo noted that a feature that will allow you to move your Animal Crossing data to another Switch is intended to launch later this year, and the developer promises to keep us informed whenever that happens.
