Undying look to continue their unbeaten run in the NA DPC League
North America’s Dota Pro Circuit League Season 1 has seen one team shine beyond the rest so far and it is not Evil Geniuses or Quincy Crew, but Undying – a roster formed with the sole purpose of taking the region by storm.
When you think of NA Dota, Evil Geniuses and Quincy Crew are generally the first teams that come to mind – while 4 Zoomers and Sadboys may also be considered by some, especially with their rosters featuring some well-known players. However, a closed qualifier roster has been making a name for themselves, albeit one with players who are definitely known throughout the Dota 2 community. Undying revealed their roster on January 3rd, 2021, and soon after were competing in the closed qualifier to reach the upper division of the NA DPC League. With week 3 of the League Season 1 currently ongoing, Undying have been relentless in showing that they belong amongst the best.
Although they have only played three series, all of which have been against other closed qualifier teams, Undying remain completely unbeaten and sit in first place for the time being – tied with QC. The team’s toughest challenge begins on February 7th, today, when they will take on EG – a series which could make or break the roster as they go in search of a top tier finish. Following that, Undying will still have to face off against Sadboys, QC and 4 Zoomers, all of which could prove to be crucial in their pursuit of a Major spot.
Undying’s roster is:
- Enzo “Timado” Gianoli
- Jonathan “Bryle” De Guia
- Jonáš “SabeRLight-“ Volek
- David Boon “MoonMeander” Yang Tan
- DooYoung “DuBu” Kim
Strangely enough, the team have had some great performances with the hero Undying, which secured them their first 2-0 victory, and has been consistently banned in all other series against them, although they have been the team to ban it on occasion. It will be interesting to see if the directly invited teams will also favour banning the hero as it has only been picked four times over the course of the upper division of the NA DPC League, with a 75%-win rate at time of writing.
