Motivate.Trust Gaming dominate the DOTA Summit 13 SEA group stage, playoffs set

The two-week group stage play of Dota Summit 13 Online SEA division concluded today with a few surprises.

While the Thai representative Motivate.Trust Gaming took the first spot in the group, Among Us and BOOM Esports had to play a tiebreaker best-of-one match to decide which one will start the playoffs from the upper bracket and which one will fight with elimination on the line through the rest of the tournament.

Fresh grand finalists at Top Clans 2020 Dota 2 SEA Invitational Championship, Motivate.Trust Gaming (MTG) delivered a top notch performance in the group play of Dota Summit 13 as well. With just one series lost, at the hands of TNC Predator, and two draw scores, they topped the group with an overall 14-4 game score. TNC placed right behind them with a 12-6 game score and also secured a spot into the upper bracket for the playoffs stage.

With just the top four teams in the group advancing to the upper bracket, the battle for the last spot was heavily disputed. At the end of all group play matches, Among Us and BOOM Espoorts went head to head in a best of one tiebreaker and, unfortunately for the Indonesian fans, the latter lost to a better team fight coordination coming from Among Us.

The final four teams securing the much wanted upper bracket slots are MTG, TNC, Adroit Esports and Among US.

Two squads have also left the competition already. The open qualifiers winners, Army Geniuses, along with Team Star, featuring ddz, LaNcE, MozuN and the scene veteran YamateH, placed bottom two in the group and lost any chance at making it to the playoffs.

BOOM Esports, Cignal Ultra, Neon Esports and 496 Gaming will fight for survival via the lower bracket rounds starting tomorrow, November 4. The first upper bracket series will pit MTG against Adroit Esports on November 5 at 11:00 CET/ 18:00 PST, followed by TNC versus Among Us scheduled for the same day. The winners will advance to the Dota Sumit 13: SEA finals.
