Misfits Gaming Group Creates New Advocacy Platform, ‘Women of Misfits’ – The Esports Observer

Florida-based esports and entertainment company Misfits Gaming Group (MGG) announced Thursday the launch of a new women’s advocacy program called “Women of Misfits.” With an approach that will focus on the four core pillars of mentorship, development, network and advocacy, the program will bring on a guest speaker each month to educate those in attendance and tell their story. The platform will be curated and led by women executives at MGG.

MGG has already confirmed its first four guest speakers which are Chris Evert, 18-time Grand Slam singles champion and tennis legend; GloZell Green, comedian and YouTuber; Bianca Smith, the first Black woman to serve as a professional baseball coach; Angela Ruggiero, CEO and co-founder of Sports Innovation Lab and 4x Olympian and Gold Medalist for the USA Hockey team; and Maya Enista Smith, executive director of the Born This Way Foundation.

Airing on MGG’s YouTube channel, each session will be moderated with speakers sharing stories that matter to them which they believe will nspire women in the gaming community.

Each core pillar relates to the way in which MGG will work with the women who become a part of the program. The mentorship aspect will see women at MGG paired with other female mentors inside the organization who will provide guidance and career advice to help maximize potential and achieve goals.

The program will also provide networking opportunities that offer connections between the women of MGG and others. Lastly, the initiative itself looks to provide advocacy for women inside the industry and those looking to be a part of it.

Leading the “Women of Misfits” initiative are Chief Development Officer Hillary Matchett, President, Media & Branding Ella Pravetz, Chief Revenue Officer Lagen Nash, President, Misfits Agency Amy Palmer, VP of Communications Becca Henry, Chief Wellness Adviser Carolyn Rubenstein, PhD, and Co-Founder Laurie Silvers.
