MIBR will participate in ESL Pro League Season 11 & FLASHPOINT, speak out against ESL Pro Tour methods

In an unexpected move, MIBR has announced its participation in ESL Pro League Season 11. The team had elected to drop out of ESL Pro League after Season 10 in order to participate in FLASHPOINT, the new league set to compete schedule-wise with ESL’s.

This doesn’t mean that MIBR will be dropping out of FLASHPOINT, however, as the COVID-19 outbreak has caused both events to be played online and therefore make it possible for teams to play in both.

MIBR took to Twitter to explain their decision. Their post states that they feel it is in their best interest to do so in order to be able to qualify for ESL One Cologne via the ESL Pro Tour rankings.

The Brazilian lineup’s organization openly criticized the system in place that would ask them to do this when they described it as “harmful to fans, the community and the ecosystem at large.”

Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo took a similar approach, posting a TwitLonger discussing the ranking issue and joining the online league.

Senior Vice President of Product as ESL stepped up to try to explain the ranking and ESL Pro Tour in a follow-up tweet. He stated that the “ESL Pro Tour is a race towards two events with 1,000,000 USD prize money each. You collect points by playing ESL, DH and Majors. It is not supposed to be a ranking like the HLTV one.”

MIBR will join Group A in North America alongside Liquid, 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses, FURIA, and Swole Patrol.
