Huya Sponsors Wuhan-based LPL Team Rare Atom – The Esports Observer
Chinese live streaming platform Huya announced Wednesday that the company has signed a sponsorship deal with Wuhan-based League of Legends Pro League (LPL) team Rare Atom (RA). Huya’s logo will be placed at the right shoulder of RA’s team jerseys.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
RA originated from Chinese esports organization Vici Gaming (VG). In January, VG League of Legends team rebranded to RA, and relocated its headquarters to Wuhan.
During this year’s League of Legends Spring Split Final in Wuhan, China League of Legends esports operator TJ Sports and RA gave RA-branded merchandise to local fans and live audiences for promoting the team’s image. Apart from Huya, RA has Japanese wellness company PIP (China Division) as another sponsor.
On Tuesday, Huya and TJ Sports also entered a $310M USD, five-year exclusive media rights deal. The deal includes the broadcasting, video-on-demand, and distribution rights in China for the LPL, League of Legends Development League, and LPL All-Star event. Huya can also produce promotional digital content based on TJ Sports authorized resources.
