EternaLEnVy and Sneyking leave their own team a week before StarLadder ImbaTV Minor
Founding members of Fighting PandaS Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao and Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu announced their departure from the team mere days before the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor which could have brought them a ticket for the Los Angeles Major.
Fighting PandaS was formed in the post TI9 shuffle and was announced by Envy at the end of August 2019. Ever since then, the team looked for a sponsor, but in spite of all the social media work and despite qualifying for a Major and two Minors already, the team is still running without any financial support.
At the first Major of the current season, we had the chance to talk to Envy who explained to us how Fighting PandaS was formed and that he was the one “to put things into motion” because he wasn’t playing at TI9, so he had “a bit more time to think about the roster and more freedom to talk to everyone.” When asked if he ever considered to swap regions again or to join an already existing squad he bluntly said: “I care about Dota enough that I will pretty much do anything just to be on a better team.”
About three months later, EE lives up to his words as a few hours after he announced his departure from Fighting PandaS he tweeted: “Dota resumes tomorrow.” At the same time, Sneyking let his Twitter followers know that there will be “further announcements and details” released.
In the meantime, Fighting PandaS are actively looking for two stand-ins so they can honor their spot at the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor. The tournament is set to begin in Kyiv, Ukraine on the 5th of March, with the teams expected to arrive in town a couple of days prior to the event.
Fighting PandaS are one of the two NA teams qualified for the Minor and interestingly enough, their regional friends are also coming to the tournament as free agents after J.Storm dropped them. A total of eight teams are expected to arrive at the SL ImbaTV Minor next month to fight for a share of the $300,000 prize pool and the tournament title and the final spot at the ESL One Los Angeles Major.
