Counter-Strike site HLTV acquired by Better Collective

HLTV, a Counter-Strike news, match coverage, and stats website carrying much of the history of the franchise has been acquired by Better Collective the team behind the site has revealed.

Founded in 2002 in Denmark, the website has been the leading source for Counter-Strike fans all around the globe. In addition to HLTV.org, Dust2.dk, a small variant of the site focusing on Denmark is also part of the deal.

Better Collective is a sports betting media group located in Copenhagen and listed as BETCO on Nasdaq Stockholm. The company has several websites and products under its umbrella.

According to the announcement, the deal is worth up to €34.5m with €26.4m of that being paid initially. The remaining up to €8.1m will be paid as three “earn out payments to be paid out in the coming three years subject to HLTV.org ApS reaching certain financial performance criterias.”

CEO of HLTV.org ApS Martin Rosenbæk had the following to say about the move:

Esports is an industry that is rapidly growing and evolving and, through constructive discussions with the Better Collective management, it became clear that they are the optimal partner for us to realize the full potential of our platforms.”
