Coca-Cola Sponsors Copa Nobru Free Fire Tournament in Brazil

The second edition of the Copa Nobru (Nobru Cup), an independent tournament featuring Garena’s battle royale game Free Fire held in Brazil, will be sponsored by Coca-Cola. The event is being organized by the pro player and streamer Bruno “Nobru” Goes with his career management agency 3C Gaming.

3C Gaming Co-Founder Renan Philip spoke with The Esports Observer about the deal: “By supporting Copa Nobru, the first time that the brand makes a move with Free Fire, Coca-Cola endorses its support for the largest esports community in Brazil, showing that, in addition to the audience, we have enough results and professionalism to work with one of the most iconic brands in the world.”

Financial details were not disclosed. Other sponsorships by Coca-Cola in the local esports scene include paiN Gaming, one of the main organizations in the country.

The competition will have a $50K BRL (roughly $9.2K USD) prize pool and classify the best teams for La Copa, the biggest independent Free Fire tournament in Latin America, with a total $150K BRL (around $27.8K USD) prize pool.

La Copa, produced by the esports promotion group Bad Boy Leeroy (BBL), will feature the best teams from the Nobru Cup and the Donato Cup, organized by the Venezuelan YouTuber Donato Muñoz with his agency Trihaus. The competitions will follow an online structure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, starting Nov. 17, while La Copa is scheduled for Dec. 15 – 19.

The first Nobru Cup, which also happened in 2020, was one of the factors which pushed Nobru’s numbers forward to make him the most-watched streamer in the world in August: it had over 6,6M total watched hours and 394K simultaneous spectators on its finals. This edition will also be broadcast on Nobru’s Twitch and YouTube.
