Call of Duty: Warzone revealed – details & trailer
Blizzard-Activision has officially unveiled Call of Duty: Warzone. The “new and massive combat experience” will allow up to 150 players to drop in a battle royale format and best of all, it’s free-to-play.
Warzone will launch officially tomorrow, March 10th at 8am PDT for those who already own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, while those who don’t have it will be able to jump in a few hours later at 12pm PDT.
“Welcome to Warzone – a massive new combat experience where up to 150 players take the role of a veteran Tier 1 Operator and drop in to the dense and sprawling world of Verdansk. Warzone is a game-changer packed with non-stop and endless action that’s free-to-play and free-for-everyone!” the official blog announcement reads.
The game is free for everyone, meaning you do not need to have already purchased Modern Warfare in order to download and enjoy Warzone according to the post.
On top of the announcement, a trailer was also revealed showcasing some of the biggest features of the new game. While we haven’t seen gameplay yet, from the video it looks like it may be the biggest battle royale yet.
The game is based in Verdansk which is detailed as “an expansive city with multiple named zones and well over 300 points of interest. Each zone features distinct landmarks like the Gorengard Lumber Yard or the Gora Dam; the zones take place across different environment types like cities and rural areas for unique engagements.”
The official blog from Activision also goes into detial regarding the five vehicle types which include ATV. Tactical Rover, SUV, Cargo Truck, and Helicopter.
The download for Warzone will be 18-22GB and will take the place of the “Classified” panel for those already owning Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Those who don’t own Modern Warfare can download the game as a standalone from “respective first-party stores” around 12pm PDT March 10th.
