Caffeine Secures $113M Series D Investment
Live streaming platform Caffeine closed a $113M USD Series D financing round to invest in new forms of real-time interactive entertainment. The round was led by media company Fox Corporation, privately-held conglomerate Cox Enterprises, and Saudi Arabian investment company Sanabil Investments. Additionally, the round was joined by the Silicon Valley venture-capital firms Andreessen Horowitz and Greylock Partners.
Caffeine, which is now valued at more than $600M, is a competitor to live streaming platforms such as Twitch, Youtube, Trovo, Huya, and DouYu. Last year, Caffeine signed several esports content deals in a bid for market share, including an exclusive broadcaster deal with esports organization Dignitas, a non-exclusive deal to broadcast the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), and a global partnership with DreamHack to broadcast several of their 2019 events.
