Aster remain unbeaten as they dominate Group A at the Minor
StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Season 3 Minor kicked off earlier
today with Group A finding its first team to move into the playoff stage.
Featuring BOOM Esports, Team Aster, forZe and business associates; Group A definitely saw at least one surprising result on its opening day of games. Aster were quick to get off the mark with a fairly easy 2-0 victory over BOOM to take themselves into the winner’s matchup but for the North American BA squad, things weren’t as simple. After winning their first game with ease, they were unable to close out either of the next two as forZe utilized their home-ground advantage to setup a match against Aster.
Going into the final series of Group A for the day, forZe were definitely considered the underdogs but after their victory this morning, anything was possible. With the first game in the series, the team begun to show exactly why they should not be counted out, utilizing a Meepo pick near perfectly to make a comeback against a Song ‘Sccc’ Chun’s Sven. Even though Aster still claimed the win, it was not easy by a long shot and the next game would be extremely telling for both teams.
Even though forZe had put up an amazing fight before, the
next game of the series was nowhere close to the same. The Chinese squad, considered
favourites to some in the entire Minor, were able to quite easily dominate their
opponents and took an unbeaten path straight into the playoffs.
The day is not yet over at the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Season 3 Minor as the final series of the day will feature the winner’s matchup of Group B – Alliance versus Gambit Esports. Tomorrow the group stages will come to a close with BA and BOOM opening the day with an elimination series.
